How old are you?

M's birthday was this past Sunday. At church, she received lots of birthday wishes from all the sweet people in our church family. She would just smile so big every time someone said
"Happy Birthday".
The natural question that every one asked was "How old are you?"
Of course, they all expected to hear her say 2.
Instead, she replied in her sweet matter-of-fact voice..... "I six".

Everyone got a big kick out of it! We tried to tell her "No, you are are two" but her response was always the same "No, I six".
The funniest part was how she was just so matter-of-fact about it!
I am not sure how it happened or who told her it was so,
but for some reason, my 2 year old is convinced she is SIX!

Happy 2nd Birthday, M

On August 24, 2006, this sweet baby girl entered our life!

She has brought us such joy.

1 year old

She makes us laugh with all the silly things she does...and she will do anything for a laugh!

Her smile brightens any day!

She has the cutest laugh...and it is contagious too! You cannot help but to bust out laughing when she gets the giggles!

I am so glad she is a momma's girl!

Happy 2nd Birthday, M. We love you very much!

Rainy Days

Today we are "stuck" inside thanks to Tropical Storm Fay. The kids have loved it!

Painting is one of the many fun things they have decided to do today. They have been so creative and have gotten along so incredibly well!

They have spent literally hours creating their masterpieces!

What a fun day!

Looking back on the Summer of '08

Summer of '08 is gone...at least the lazy days of summer.

You know the ones where you wake up and there is nothing that HAS to be done that day. The ones where you can make spur-of-the-moment plans to meet friends at the park or the pool. The ones where you rent an old classic movie to watch and spread out in the living room with popcorn. (Our favorite so far was National Velvet) The ones where you just enjoy life together as a family without all the pressure and responsibility of lesson plans and school work.

Our summer has been day trips to the beach and picnics at the park.

We have explored nature trails, mountain tops, and the Georgia Aquarium.

We have had train rides, boat rides and of course, hours of car rides.

We have put our house up for sale and have began to make plans for the new house!

We have celebrated birthdays and anniversaries.

S at her 6th birthday party

E celebrating her 9th birthday at Stone Mountain.

We have grilled out, swam until we were wrinkled, visited friends, and just relaxed...and it has been so nice. What a wonderful time we shared as a family and with friends!

Here are some of my favorite pics from all the summer fun we had in '08!

I hope you had as great of a summer as we did!

Vacation Time

Tomorrow we leave for vacation...Well, technically, it is just weekend beach trip, but nonetheless, I am excited to have 3 whole days of family togetherness.

This summer, we have had several mini-vacations. We made a couple trips to the beach and we spent a fantastic weekend in Atlanta visiting Stone Mountain and the Georgia Aquarium.

This has been an awesome summer and we have done a lot of fun stuff...I am so grateful to have so many fun memories from the Summer of 2008.

Because school starts on Monday and this is going to be our last official mini-vacation of the summer, we have decided this "vacation" is going to be different. We have rented a condo on the world's most beautiful beaches and we plan to do nothing.

Well, nothing except enjoy the sun, ride the waves, build sandcastles, collect shells, and take a stroll on the shore at sunset....oh, doesn't that sound sooo good...and relaxing!

This is the view we had last year....

Do you see now why I can't wait to go back?
