Behind the Scenes

Today we went to visit a local TV station with our homeschool group.

Listening to our tour guide in the studio

E and S playing weather girls

E and R on the set

We were able to watch the noon broadcast in the control room and
then go into the studio for the last part of it.

At the end of the show, they gave a shout out to our group and the kids got to be on TV!

Eggs and Baby Chicks

We were able to enjoy a class at a local park that explained the process of candling and hatching eggs. I think I enjoyed it as much as they did!

Some of the kids liked holding the chickens

Look how pretty the feathers are on this chicken

I am so thankful for all the hands on learning opportunities that my kids get to experience!

Dairy Field Trip

We visited a dairy/creamery and had a great time!

I think the kids favorite part was petting and feeding the baby calves. This one was only 5 days old.

Our friends, R and E

S and B playing with another baby calf

This one was so cute looking out the barn door.

He just wanted to lick B's hand anytime he tried to pet him.

S did not want to be licked so she kept her distance.

The older cows were so curious of us. They would come straight to the fences and just stare.

This one is scratching his back with this hanging scrubber.

Mocha Coffee Slush

My sweet husband surprised me with a homemade mocha slush. It was very similar to this one, but nowhere near the cost!!!

Here is his recipe.

1 cup crushed ice
3/4 cup milk
3 T. mocha coffee drink mix
1-2 T. chocolate syrup
1/2 t. vanilla extract
whipped cream

Directions:
In a blender or food processor blend milk, coffee mix, chocolate syrup, sweetener & vanilla until smooth. Serve immediately topped with whipped cream and chocolate syrup. Enjoy!

The great thing about slushes or smoothies is that that you can play around with the different flavors to come up fantastic drinks!

Be Still

Hide me now
Under Your wings
Cover me
Within Your mighty hand

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father you are King over the flood
I will be still and know You are God

Find rest my soul
In Christ alone
Know His power
In quietness and trust

When the oceans rise and thunders roar
I will soar with You above the storm
Father You are king over the flood
I will be still and know You are God.

Psalm 46:10

Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth!

The Help of a 3 yr old

My 3 year old loves to help me do chores around the house.

Every day when I make my bed, she is right beside me waiting to put the throw pillows on the bed. Lately, she has added a finishing touch.....

her Beary. How sweet of her to share her favorite bear!

She also loves to help fold clothes. She likes to do the kitchen towels and washcloths. She always folds them in these little squares

and then lines them up like this.

I am so thankful for my little helper and her willingness to help without me asking! I just hope she is always this willing to help with chores!!!!

Science Projects

Today was Science Day at our homeschool group. It is always fun seeing all the experiements that the kids demonstrate. They all did such a good job!

E made a rubber egg.

She showed how the acid eats away at the calcium shell of the egg leaving the membranes intact.

S learned about water vapor and pressure and explained it with popcorn! She showed that when the tiny bit of water in the kernel of popcorn turns to water vapor, the pressure builds making the kernel explode.
That  is how we get popcorn.

B demonstrated his lesson on solids and liquids by making quicksand

He showed that the cornstarch and water mixture is a non-Newtonian fluids because the viscosity changes when stress or a force is applied.

Isn't science fun??!!?

Next under choose an identity, click Anonymous. (That is why you have to put your name at the end of you comment.)

Now that you know, please be sure to leave me a comment. I always enjoy hearing from you!

Schooling Outside

Today it is in the low 70's and maybe, just maybe spring has finally arrived!

We decided to do school outside in the nice warm sunshine!

E came out to eat lunch with us. (She does her schooling on the internet so she can't be out here the entire time.)

I love the flexibility of homeschooling!

Here is one last picture of his smile before the tooth was pulled.

His letter to the "tooth fairy"

He doesn't really believe in the tooth fairy, but he sure does like the idea of getting money for his tooth!!!!
