Candy Scramble

The last night of Awana is marked with a lot of excitement not because the kids are glad it is over (because trust me they are NOT!) but because they are having a candy scramble!

My kids have been counting the weeks, days and now hours till it was time!

If you are not familiar with a candy scramble this is what they do. First, the workers cover the floor of the gym with candy, then the kids fill a brown lunch sack with as much candy as they can in a given number of minutes.
I had hoped to be able to take pictures of this exciting activity, but S got sick and was not able to go to church. She was devastated that she was not able to go because like I said they have been counting the days till the candy scramble.

When the kids came home, E had a bag full of candy for S. She said that her Awana teacher had made a bag just for her before the game began. How sweet is that! Our Awana workers are always thinking of the kids. They are so sweet and thoughtful. We truly are blessed to have a church who cares about our kids and continually show the love of Christ to them! It was such a simple little thing, but one that spoke volumes to S and her mama!

The Oval Mirror

I found this beauty at T*Ma*x for only $15.00!

For now, Scot hung it for me over the mantel in our bedroom. I think I will use it in the foyer at the new house.

Trust His Heart

I was reminded of this song today as I was reading a friends blog. So many times I just don't understand why things happen the way they do. I KNOW I need to just trust God, but my flesh begins to question why?

When this song came to mind, I could only remember parts of the chorus. I pulled up the lyrics and read the rest of the song and my heart was touched!

What a great reminder that God only wants what is BEST for me and HE sees the master plan!!!!

Trust His Heart

All things work for our good
though sometimes we can't see how they could
struggles that break our hearts in two
sometimes blinds us to the truth

Our Father knows what's best for us
His ways are not our own
So when your pathway grows dim, and you just can't see Him
Remember you're never alone

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His heart

He sees the master plan
And He holds our future in His hands
So don't live as those who have no hope
All our hope is found in Him

We see the present clearly
But He sees the first and the last
And like a tapestry He's weaving you and me to someday be just like Him

God is too wise to be mistaken
God is too good to be unkind
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand
Trust His heart

He alone is faithful and true
He alone knows what is best for you
So when you don't understand
When you don't see His plan
When you can't trace His hand trust His heart

In Christ Alone

In Christ alone my hope is found,
He is my light, my strength, my song;
this Cornerstone, this solid Ground,
firm through the fiercest drought and storm.
What heights of love, what depths of peace,
when fears are stilled, when strivings cease!
My Comforter, my All in All,
here in the love of Christ I stand.

In Christ alone! who took on flesh
Fulness of God in helpless babe!
This gift of love and righteousness
Scorned by the ones he came to save:
Till on that cross as Jesus died,
The wrath of God was satisfied -
For every sin on Him was laid;
Here in the death of Christ I live.

There in the ground His body lay
Light of the world by darkness slain:
Then bursting forth in glorious Day
Up from the grave he rose again!
And as He stands in victory
Sin's curse has lost its grip on me,
For I am His and He is mine -
Bought with the precious blood of Christ.

No guilt in life, no fear in death,
This is the power of Christ in me;
From life's first cry to final breath.
Jesus commands my destiny.
No power of hell, no scheme of man,
Can ever pluck me from His hand;
Till He returns or calls me home,
Here in the power of Christ I'll stand.

The Storage Cube

I got this great wicker storage cube from Wa*m**t. It was the last one in the clearance section and did not have a tag on it. I asked the cashier if she could tell me a price on it.
She gave it to me for $3.50! It pays to ask!

New Lamps for the Girl's Rooms

I found this silver lamp at the GW for $1.29. Can you believe that? I added a $4 lamp shade and now S has the stylish, grown-up lamp she has been wanting!

E has been wanting a glass lamp for her room. It really does pay to be patient. I could have bought one at tar-jay for $20.00 without a shade, instead I found this cutie for $5.00 (including the shade) at a garage sale!

The purple base does not match her room, but that is an easy fix. We will just spray paint it :)

Not only is it fun, but the kids are learning great word skills each time they play!

It is a lot of fun for everyone even the adults....Scot and I compete one on one which the kids love!

The Nightstand

Scot found this nightstand at a garage sale for $10.00. It needs painting and new hardware,
but that is an easy fix.
We will paint it white and add some "bling" for the handles.

S and M are sharing a room at the new house and this will be perfect between their beds
as a shared nightstand.

My Reader

This girl loves to read! She usually is the first one in bed because she knows the quicker she gets there the more time she has to read! I am so thankful that my kids have such a deep love for reading.

Teaching Moment

Over the weekend, B had a flat tire on his bike and his daddy taught him how to change it.

I love the relationship that daddy's have with their sons.

This special moment was so much more than just learning how to change a tire. I am thankful that my kids have a daddy who is patient and kind, who takes the time to explain things and to teach life skills as part of their everyday life! They have a fantastic daddy and they know it!

My Redeemer Lives!

Who taught the sun where to stand in the morning?

And who told the ocean you can only come this far?
And who showed the moon where to hide till evening?
Whose words alone can catch a falling star?

Well I know my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
All of creation testifies
This life within me cries
I know my Redeemer lives

The very same God
That spins things in orbit
Runs to the weary, the worn and the weak
And the same gentle hands that hold me when I'm broken
They conquered death to bring me victory

Now I know, my Redeemer lives
I know my Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry

I know
My Redeemer
He lives
To take away my shame
And He lives
Forever I'll proclaim
That the payment for my sins
Was the precious life He gave
And now He's alive and
There's an empty
Grave!

And I know
My Redeemer lives
He lives
I know
My Redeemer lives
Let all creation testify
Let this life within me cry
I know my Redeemer
I know
My Redeemer lives!
