The Tale of Two Chairs

On our way to church last night, we passed a neighbor's house down the street that had a large amount of wood by the road. (They had obviously done a major weekend project.)

When we rode by, E said, "Mom, did you see that great old chair?" I had missed it. All I saw was the wood. We turned around to check it out. There sitting among the wood was this great old chair!

So my sweet hubby loaded her up and took her back home.

Then, a few hours later on our way home from church, we passed the same trash pile. My same daughter said, "Mom did you see that chair?" I laughed thinking she was joking...she said there really is a big chair! So we turned around to take a look. Sure enough, there was this amazing chair that wasn't there the first time!

It is dirty and gross BUT it has a great shape and is very sturdy! Can you see the potential?
Thank you to my sweet husband who CARRIED this big heavy chair down to our house - about 6 houses away...and thanks to my daughter who found not one, but TWO chairs for FREE!

The New Hideout

After finding the snake in the woods, the kids don't go and play in their forts anymore. It is overgrown now and just too dangerous knowing their are poisonous snakes in there!

So they have found a new place to play at the land....

up in the attic of the shed!

They like to play store using all the stuff we have stored up there. They have even played school using their school desks! It is such a fun place to play and let their imaginations go wild!

The Sunburn Story

We have been spending A LOT of time in the pool this summer. The kids want to get in as soon as they wake up in the mornings and want to stay in all day long! I am glad they are having so much fun. It was well worth the investment of getting a larger pool.

Today, as the kids were eating lunch, I overheard my 7 year old and 5 year old talking about why I did not want them out in the pool in the middle of the day. (I had told them to come in to eat lunch so they could cool down and not get burnt sitting out on the back porch.)

Anyway, one of them said, "Yeah, mom doesn't want us to get sunburned, but it is not a big deal if we get too much sun. We can just put on some sunburn remover and it will make it feel all better." The other one asked me, "Mom, do we have any of that blue sunburn remover?"

I could barely keep my composure...it was so funny! By the way, they were referring to this Aloe Vera sunburn reliever.

Hay Bales

The people who previously owned our land has graciously agreed to continue mowing it until we build our house. (Which is a major praise since we do not own a tractor yet!) They came this week and mowed. Yesterday, they baled the hay. Look how beautiful they all look sitting in our yard and in the field behind us.

Of course, the kids could not wait to go play on them. They had a blast!

As soon as they got out of the car, they got Scot's ladder so they could get on top of the bales! Too funny.

It is the simple things in life! I am so glad they love being out on our land....and I can't wait till our land is home.

Fun in the Sun!

We got a new pool for the kids summer enjoyment. As you can see, Scot and I have been enjoying it too. It is not a huge pool, but big enough for all six of us to be able to cool off together.

It is so hot here in the south!!! In fact, it has been triple digits for the last several days!

My kids could stay in the pool all day long! I joke that B was born with fins. He LOVES water and he is quite a dare devil..those two things together scare me! Thankfully, this is not a pool big enough to warrant too many of his stunts. I took the next few pictures using the action/sports setting on my camera. I thought they turned out pretty cool.

Hope you are finding a good way to cool off this summer!
Oh and if you need us, you know where we will be!

Garage Sale Finds!

I have recently started going to garage sales again. I live in a small town and there are usually not too many of them on any given Saturday. Well, this past Saturday there were 12 including an estate sale! I will show you what I got from there in another post.

I take one of the oldest two girls with me so we can spend some one on one time together. They both LOVE to go, but only want to go with me if they can go by themselves! So we have been alternating turns over the last couple of weeks.

This week was S's turn. She got all 4 of these things for $1. I think her favorite was the yellow umbrella. She has been wanting an umbrella of her own and this one is in perfect condition! If you know anything about AG DVDs, then you know they are worth waaayyyy more than 25 cents each!

$1 seemed to be the theme for us this week. Look what else I got for just one buckaroo each ....

a wicker clothes basket for S (it is full already that is why it is not closed all ready..just keeping it real!)

2 of these floor pillows

a milk glass pedestal fruit bowl

and my favorite... this old wooden chair that is screaming to be re-done! So much potential huh!

These are just a few of the fantastic finds I bought this week! Did you go to any garage sales? If so, what did you find?

Happy 10th Birthday, E

I cannot begin to wrap my mind around the fact that my baby girl is 10 years old today! She has been looking forward to double digits for quite awhile now. I still cringe every time she says that.

I will be honest, I am a little emotional about this turning 10 thing....I can't believe how fast the time has flown by. I look back and say when did she turn into this beautiful young lady? and I look forward and say soon she will be driving, graduating, and leaving the nest. We are more than half way there.....OH my!

E was born June 14, 1999, at 6:45 pm and weighed in at 8 lbs 9 oz.

She was actually due on my mom's birthday, May 31st. She was stubborn and was still not ready to come out 2 weeks after my due date. When I went in the morning to be induced I was at 0....absolutely nothing had happened to start the delivery process! I think she was nice and cozy in there and would have stayed for a little while longer!!!!

She was the BEST baby. Easy going, fun, slept and ate well. My perfect little angel. I remember holding her all the time! I never wanted to put her down. I was a stay at home mom. Besides, what else did I have to do, but hold and play with my sweet baby girl?! Life was perfect..my dreams were coming true!

E was the first and only grandchild until her sister arrived a few weeks before her third birthday. Needless to say, she was spoiled rotten! (But not in a misbehaved kind of way!)

She did everything fast...walk, talk, potty train, count, read...it was amazing how quickly she learned to do everything.

She is so full of life. She loves life and it shows. She is always wanting to do or go. She wants to experience it to the fullest!

She doesn't want to miss anything, and it has always been that way. I remember when she was a month or so old, we would take her places and she would stay awake the entire time. She was not fussy, she just looked around and soaked it all in. It was amazing to me that even at the young of an age, she knew if she went to sleep (like most of other babies do) that she would miss something!

She is and always has been a night owl. (why? see above) Most nights she will go to bed at her regular bedtime and will still be awake when we go to bed hours later. Even as a toddler, she was the same way.

She loves to read. I can't tell you how many books she reads in a weeks time. I venture to say on average it is at least 3.

From a very early age, E has loved to cook. She has helped me in the kitchen since she was able to sit on the counter and help.

Her favorite TV cook was RR before she became as famous as she is now! She would pretend to be on TV like RR explaining her recipes step by step...too cute!

She loves the beach.

She is a Bama Girl through and through!

She loves to decorate. She loves to go to garage sales and gets just as happy at cheap thrift store finds as I do!

She loves to travel and go new places. She loves photography - she loves to take pictures and is always willing to be my model!

She is a caretaker - I think that comes from being the oldest and feeling that responsibility of making sure the younger ones are OK.

She LOVES games! Apples to Apples is her favorite right now. Although, she still loves Rummy and Boggle too. She loves to ride her bike, scooter and roller skates.

My sweet little baby girl is turning into a beautiful young lady...and I couldn't be prouder!
