The Mask

During the process of moving, you come across a lot of things you didn't know you still had or you find things that went missing years ago.

Well, one of those things suddenly appeared this week here at the rental house.

We were getting ready to go somewhere and I called for M to come and let me fix her hair. She came running and as I was about to spray her hair she said, "Wait! I need to get my mask" Then she proceeded to pull something out of her pocket and put it over her face. She said, "Now you can spray my hair Mommy."

As I looked closer at what she had, I realized it was.......

an old nursing pad from back when I nursed my babies!!!!

Thankfully, she used it as a mask in the confines of our own home rather pulling it out of her pocket in the middle of the grocery store!!!

How do I look?

M did her own hair today and she excitedly asked if she looked beautiful....of course, I said yes.


After all she is beautiful no matter what. Besides, who says you can't wear your hair bows like this?

National Champions

Our family is huge Alabama fans...

and tonight it was so awesome to watch Alabama win their 13th National Championship!

The perfect ending to a perfect season! Roll Tide Roll!!!!

The Closing

Today we closed on our house. It was a bittersweet day. Lots of tears were shed especially when I came home to a different home. It was weird not turning down our street. Instead I drove right past around the corner and down the a new street.

I know it is just a house, but there are so many memories in that house. I will cherish them and hold them close to my heart forever. I wrote a little about that here.

I am thankful that this chapter of our life has closed so we can move onto the new chapter and finally build our dream home on our land. It is an exciting time and one in which we have waited for a long time!

So as we are just a week or so into the new year. I am thankful that this new year is bringing a new and exciting beginning to our home.

Final Pictures

Today, we went to our house and took some pictures one last time.

We LOVE our front porch and will miss it terribly. Our front porch swing was a house warming gift from my mom when we moved in over 10 years ago. We, of course, are taking it with us and it will placed on the front porch of our new house.

This swing has served as a backdrop for many a pictures so it was only appropriate we got some final pics today.

Cleaning Machines

The kids were such a big help as we were cleaning the house. It is always amazing how helpful kids are when you give them their own spray bottle and rag....baseboards, moldings, kitchen cabinets all get cleaned pretty quickly!

Our Last Night

One of the things that we love about our house is the vents in the floor. We spent many hours sitting on this vent getting warm!


On this cold January night, we all snuggled up one last time over our vent warming up before jumping into bed for our last night in our home.

We put all the kids beds in the living room for one last camp night.

They laughed, played, jumped on the beds, sang at the top of their lungs...made one last memory. It was a good, fun night!

While we were taking pictures and acting silly. Scot snuggled with M on the vent.

A perfect.... and appropriate ending to our last night.
