Forever.....always

It was 14 years ago today that the man of my dreams asked me to spend forever with him!

These young faces were so happy and in love. We couldn't wait to get married!
I am so happy and thankful to say that after almost 13 years of marriage, we are still just as happy, still so in love, and still act like newlyweds at times.
He is the husband of my dreams...and so much more.
So today, we remember and celebrate the beginning of our commitment to a lifetime of loving, honoring and cherishing one another!

Our First Date

March 30, 1994, Scot and I went out on our first date. It is hard to believe that was 15 years ago today!

We were both in our sophomore year at a christian college in Florida. His friend, Vidor, was in the nursing program along with my friend, Connie. We saw each other a couple times hanging out around campus with our friends who knew each other. Scot wanted to ask me out. We had only seen each other around, but were not in the same classes or anything.

Since our friends knew each other, the guys came up with the idea to make it a double date. Scot and I hit it off instantly. We talked as if we had known each other forever.

He was sweet, funny, charming, and just so real. I remember when he dropped me off at the dorm, I knew he was someone special. I can honestly say, in my heart, I just knew he was THE one.

I am so glad that we went out on that first date...look where we are because of it! 15 years later - married for almost 13 years with 4 kids - what a beautiful dream come true! I am so thankful that I get to spend forever with that same sweet, charming, funny, loving, kind, really amazing guy!

It was 14 years ago today, that I was a 20 year old college student sitting in The Grill. That night my life, my relationship, and my future changed...forever.

It was that night, as Scot and I shared an order of chicken fingers and fries, we finally said those long awaited words... "I love you!"

He actually said it first, but we both had been feeling it for a long time. I knew in my heart that he was the one God had chosen for me to spend the rest of my life with...we both did, but our relationship was only 6 months old and we were taking things slow. We both had been hurt before and wanted to make sure that the next time we said those words to someone, that it was THE PERSON.

But still, those were the words I longed to hear from him and I longed to say them to him! But I patiently waited for him to be ready to express a deep committed love.

I am so glad I did. It was so worth the wait!

I am so thankful that we became friends first. That we allowed our relationship the opportunity to grow deeper even before expressing our love for one another.

The beauty in it all is I knew once he said he loved me that he was committed and that he knew in his heart that I was THE PERSON.

Now, this many years later, that same love we expressed that night is deeper and stronger than I ever could have imagined. I only thought I knew what love meant back then ....I never realized how much it grows and changes and gets better and stronger and I that I would fall in love over and over again...it is just so amazing!

The reasons I love him keep multiplying! The way he looks at me across the room, the playfulness he has with our children, the husband and father he is, the big and the little things in life, the important and the mundane tasks..doing it together with him, it ALL just makes me love him more.

The love we have shared so far, seems like just a drop in this vast bucket of love that isn't quite full yet...I guess we still have many more years to go before that happens! And even then, I dare say, it will never be full. Because with each new day, I love him more and as long as I live, he will be the only one I love, the only one who has my heart!

Scot, thank you for loving me like you do. Thank you for keeping it fresh and new and exciting. I look forward to loving you now and forever...always!

August 3, 1996

Today, Scot and I are celebrating our 12th anniversary. I thought it was appropriate to begin our new blog on the date that our story began.

It is always fun for us to relive special memories from our wedding day....what a beautiful, romantic day it was!

I hold close the precious memories of that day. I never want to forget the way we felt back then....the crazy, passionate, newlywed kind of love...the overwhelming joy of just being together, holding hands, cooking supper or walking on the beach....it was just the total excitement we had of starting our life together. We laugh at how much money we DID NOT have...but it did not matter. We had each other!

Our love is deeper, stronger, and more mature now. At times our life can be crazy, hectic, busy, and stressful. But through it all, I am just so glad that I have him to share it with!

Today, as we celebrate, I am so thankful that God knew who and what I needed, way more than I ever did. He created the perfect husband for me!

Happy Anniversary, my forever love.
