The Handmade Gown

A dear sweet older lady in our church made this special gown for M.

She said this was the same pattern that her great-grandmother used for her when she was a little girl. Miss Frankie now makes them for her grandchildren and nieces. She was so sweet to include M as the latest recipient of her handmade gowns.

Baby Lambs

Our favorite park recently had some new additions to their farm animals that we could not wait to go and see!

How cute are they?

While there, we were able to help feed the other farm animals. The kids absolutely LOVE doing this! The man in charge of caring for the animals name is Sidney. He is the sweetest person - so kind and patient with kids. He always takes the time to answer their questions and gives them tidbits of information about all the animals.

E was able to gather an egg from the chicken coop!

Spring Consignment Sale

I have been busy this week getting our outgrown spring and summer clothes ready to sell at a local kids consignment sale....and what a task it is! The house gets turned upside down for a few days.

I am refraining from showing you any more pictures. You will just have to trust me when I say there are piles of clothes everywhere! Some to sell, some to donate, and some to save for the next child to wear.

In the end, it is worth it. A little extra money AND clean drawers and closets!

Valentine's Day

Several years ago, our kids started the tradition of cooking and serving a special dinner for Scot and I on Valentine's Day.

They set a very pretty table complete with flowers and candles; they even played some soft piano music!

This year E informed me that she was making Chicken Alfredo. I thought this might be more than a 9 year old could handle, but she did a fantastic job!

She grilled the chicken on the George Foreman , made the noodles and sauce. She even baked cheese and garlic biscuits! It really was a great meal! I am so proud of her.

S wore a cute little apron and was one of our servers. She played the role perfectly - down to carrying the silverware in the apron pockets!

She even made menus for us.

B, our handsome little server, did a great job checking to make sure everything was OK. He couldn't wait till we were done with dinner so HE could blow out the candles!

It was such a fun evening. There truly is no other place I would have rather gone for Valentine's Day!

Abe Lincoln

After learning about Abraham Lincoln all week in school, S had to write a story about his life.

Take a look at what she said:

Pretty much sums it up, huh?!

The Cast is Off

It has been 5 long weeks for this sweet little girl!

She has been such a trooper through it all. She has spent lots of hours playing with play dough, doing puzzles, and "reading" her books.

The first few weeks she sat pretty still, scared to really move too much. In the last couple of weeks, she has crawled everywhere...and got pretty fast at it too!

She also learned a trick or two. Her favorite was balancing on one leg!

Today, she got the beloved pink cast taken off.

Bless her little heart, her skin was SO dry and cracked.

She did not want to try to stand, much less walk! When we finally convinced her to stand up, she would only stand on one leg! At least she had been practicing.
Of course, the first thing that she did when we got home was take a bath! She sure has missed taking a real bath!
Trust me, I have too! With all the hair she has, the sponge bath did not work well. I will spare the details of what my poor baby girl had to go through just to have clean hair!

I know it will take time, but I am so ready to have her back to her normal two year old self. Before this, I had taken for granted just how much she could do on her own! Hopefully, in the next couple of days she will be running and jumping - or at least walking again.

I Love Jesus

I found this written on one of S's seatwork pages.

I pray that her heart will always be tender and she will always say, "I love Jesus!"
